How To Get Rid of the Dreaded Double Chin, For Good.
Submental fullness – a double chin – is a common problem caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, weight gain, or aging. Surgery or liposuction used to be the only treatment options, but no more. Kybella is the first FDA-Approved injectable to treat the condition.
What Is Kybella?
Kybella is a synthetic copy of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that absorbs fat cells.
How does Kybella work?
Once Kybella is injected into the fat underneath the chin, it begins to break down the cells and ultimately destroy them. Once destroyed, the cells cannot grow or accumulate fat ever again.
What is the Treatment Like?
After the treatment area under the chin is targeted and defined, multiple injections of Kybella are administered throughout the area. The number of injections will vary from patient to patient, dependent on their genetic profile and amount of fat stored under the chin. A treatment session will typically last about 15 minutes.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Most patients achieve their desired result after 2 to 4 treatment sessions, which must be spaced no less than one month apart.
What Should I Expect After Treatment?
Some bruising or swelling may occur after treatment. Bruises typically last a few days, while the swelling can last up to 1-2 weeks. Final results will appear within 4-6 weeks.
Is Kybella right for me?
Kybella is not a suitable treatment for patients with excessive loose skin, which would need to be addressed with surgery or liposuction.
“We’ve seen extraordinary results with Kybella”, says Traci Long, PA-C. “Before Kybella, the only options for the many patients who present with this concern was surgery. When a patient does all the right things health wise, and a double chin still exists, it’s so frustrating for them becuase it has such an aesthetic impact on the facial profile and overall look of a patient. Kybella is the game-changer here.”
