Marcelyn Coley
Dr. Coley received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Miami. She went on to study medicine and obtained her M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. After completing a General Surgery Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, she completed Dermatology Residency training at the State University of New York Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. She also completed a research fellowship at the Skin of Color Center at Mt. Sinai’s St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, performing clinical research on conditions that disproportionately affect patients of color. She worked several years at the VA New Jersey Healthcare System prior to relocating back home to South Florida.
As a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Coley practices general and procedural dermatology. Her clinical interests include medical, pediatric and skin of color dermatology along with cosmetic and surgical procedures. She has done clinical research related to pigmentation issues, laser treatment for acne scarring, and scarring hair loss; publishing several articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals in addition to authoring textbook chapters. Dr. Coley has earned more than 20 scholastic honors and awards. As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Skin of Color Society, and Women’s Dermatologic Society, she has served in several leadership capacities. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Coley enjoys spending time with her husband and children, cooking, learning about nutrition and healthy lifestyles, traveling, reading, volunteering, and mentoring students and residents. She believes every person deserves quality health care and aims to continually improve outcomes through effective patient-physician relationships.
