Rating 5/5
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I had the pleasure of trying the Newtox (newest Botox injection) and am thrilled I did! The staff at Minars was very efficient and got me into seeing the Dr. with no wait time. The waiting area was very pleasant and comfortable. I was a little hesitant to try something that just came to the market but WOW! I’m very pleased with my results. Dr. Timothy Wu was one of the best Dermatologists I’ve encountered in my years of medical treatment. He listened to my concerns and needs. I look natural, vibrant and more youthful! All my friends have asked me what my secret is and I say Dr. Timothy Wu at Minars dermatology. Highly recommend!”

OUR TEAM
Experienced. Knowledgeable. Highly-trained. Our Minars Dermatology team includes passionate and certified dermatologists, medical doctors, psychologists, and admin support. We have combined experience of over 45 years and offer Botox services with care, cosmetic artistry, scientific knowledge, and natural results. We’ve all studied the anatomy of the face and always work to gain a deep understanding of the patient before any treatment is offered. This way, we can provide the right Botox injections for specific concerns.
THE FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENT:
An important element, especially for first-time patients, in achieving beautiful Botox results is the follow-up appointment, scheduled for about one week after your treatment. During this appointment, we evaluate the effect of the Botox and finesse the results if necessary. Sometimes one more injection, or a few more units of Botox, completes the treatment to perfection. We then make note of your preferences and goals to ensure that future treatments are to your specifications.

About Botox
Discovered by Belgium scientist, Emile Pierre, Botox was first used in 1977 to successfully treat eye muscle deficiencies. Since 2002, Botox injections have inspired a range of cosmetic and medical uses. The cosmetic use of Botox has revolutionized the treatment of wrinkles. The most common treatment today improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. The results are dramatic but natural (if done correctly). A Botox procedure is safe with little to no after effects.
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified neurotoxin made by a particular kind of bacteria called Clostridium botulinum. A neurotoxin is a toxic substance that normally damages or destroys neurons–the main building blocks of your nervous system. Facial wrinkles, which occur when the muscle is unable to move under the skin, can be temporarily eliminated when a tiny amount of the neurotoxin, not the bacteria, is skillfully injected in the right spot.
What is Botox used for?
Botox is best known for the elimination of wrinkles. Botox injections are one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed today. We, at Minars Dermatology, know what the most common Botox mistakes are, therefore we have perfected our process to prevent them from happening. Botox injections have been approved to:
- temporarily remove deep, frown lines (ie. Crow’s feet) & horizontal forehead lines
- relieve uncontrollable tightening of neck muscles (cervical dystonia) and eyelid muscles (blepharospasm)
- ease crossed eyes (strabismus)
- control severe underarm sweating
- treat upper/lower limb muscle spasms
- treat abnormality causing eyes not to look in the same direction
- treat uncontrolled urination due to an overactive bladder
- prevent migraines
- treat eyelid twitch
- treat chronic muscle twitches, movements, or neck spasms
- treat the failure of esophageal sphincter to relax
- anal fissure
- essential tremor
- cerebral palsy-associated limb spasticity
- increased production of saliva

The Upside of Botox Injections
- Quick, simple & done in the doctor’s office within minutes
- Require no time off from work or other activities
- Achieve quick & remarkable results
The Downside of Botox Injections
- Non-permanent results
- Bruising & bleeding can occur at the injection site
- Costs for treatments may vary depending on multiple factors
Safety Tips
- Do not take Ibuprofen or Aspirin one week prior to Botox treatments to prevent excessive bleeding & bruising
- Choosing the right doctor is key. Ask for trusted referrals. Use a dermatologist you’ve already trusted with a previous skin problem. Other helpful resources: Allergan’s website www.botoxcosmetic.com and www.aboutskinsurgery.com.
- Do not fall for “low price” advertising. Botox is expensive to buy. Patients typically pay for measured amounts used for their treatments.
- Maintain your Botox procedure. This usually requires up to two or three sessions a year. Botox gives an immediate improvement (first week), but after a few months, the effect increases. This happens for two reasons: the muscles that form wrinkles, smooth out with time & the skin “re-drapes”; and the skin, now free from the muscle that was “ironing” in the line, has time to repair itself.
- Deep lines need combination treatment. Botox can’t cure all wrinkles but can enhance results by combining Botox with a second minor procedure. For instance, a great way to treat Crow’s Feet is to combine Botox with a very light laser peel.
- Make Botox part of an overall skin plan. Wear sunscreen, start a home skin care regimen, and combine Botox with other appropriate procedures that improve the overall appearance and structure of your skin.
