originally described to occur with the earliest return of lymphocytes to the peripheral circulation of patients with acute leukemia after marrow ablative therapy  (i.e. in patients who did not receive a marrow transplant)
rash = exanthematous;    ddx drug eruption, viral exanthems
an acute elevation of temperature accompanied the cutaneous eruptions
resolution of the eruption occurred with multi-line hematological recovery
histology non-specific changes (but no significant epidermal cell necrosis vs. GVHD)
