AKA "benign lichenoid keratosis"
•
probably represents the inflammatory stage of an involuting solar lentigo
•
bright red to violaceous brown; surface may be smooth of slightly verrucous; nearly always solitary
histology:
•
looking at one part of the lesion, may be indistinguishable from lichen planus
•
but, parakeratosis fairly common (vs. LP)
•
a residual solar lentigo at edge of lesion supports the diagnosis
