•neurotoxic with GI symptoms;  can be fatal
•tx:  calcium gluconate, anti-venom

 

brown recluse (Loxoscalese reclusa) – local necrosis

•“red, white, and blue” sign
•treatment - rest, ice, elevation ("dapsone is useless" - Dirk Elston, MD)
