• | check for Beau's lines in nails (a sign of the event that may have triggered the effluvium) |
• | occurs 2 to 4 months after a physically stressful event (e.g. surgery, birth etc....) |
• | can also occur 2 to 4 months after discontinuing oral contraceptives (and is analogous to the post-partum telogen effluvium) |
• | can last 6 months (but most of it will grow back) |
