depigmented vs. hypopigmented

vitiligo melanocytes absent
toxic (chemical, trauma) to melanocytes
piebaldism melanocytes absent
albinism dysfunctional melnaocytes (tyrosinase positive vs. tyrosinase negative)

 

hmtoggle_plus1hypopigmented:
post-inflammatory (problem with transfer of melanasomes to keratinocytes)
albinism (tyrosinase positive vs. negative)
pityriasis lichenoides chronica (“spotted leopard”)
leprosy
hypopigmented MF
sarcoid

 

hmtoggle_plus1congenital hypopigmented:
Nevoid Hypopigmentation
Tuberous sclerosus (ash leaf macules = earliest sign)
Nevus Anemicus (no actual pigment loss, but instead vascular constriction gives white appearance)
IP (fourth stage)

pityriasis alba
