AKA annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma; Mieschers granuloma

some say it is GA of the face, others say it is NLD of the face
central atrophy may be prominent

 

histology:

“elastoclasis”
three distinct zones in dermis (radially):
1.external “normal” skin:  actinic elastosis
2.thickened annulus:  giant cell inflammatory reaction in relation to elastotic fibers
3.within annulus:  little or no elastic tissue remains
