autosomal recessive
extensive HPV-induced warts (classically HPV 5 and 8) and SCC
dorsal hands, extremities, face;  trunk lesions may resemble tinea versicolor
specific defect in cell-mediated immunity, but classically do not suffer frequent bacterial or other viral infection
diagnostic path feature:  swollen pale staining cells showing perinuclear vacuolation
mnemonic EV is type V  (e = fifth letter of alphabet, and V = roman numeral 5)
treatment strict sun-avoidance once diagnosed (~ XP-like) to prevent SCCs
