Systematized Epidermal Nevus epidermal nevus with diffuse or extensive distribution

 

Nevus Unius Lateris when the lesions are distributed on one half of the body

 

Ichthyosis Hystrix epidermal nevus with extensive bilateral distribution

 

ILVEN = inflammatory variant

 

histology:   essentially that of a benign papillomas (epidermolytic hyperkeratosis may be seen)
ddx: other linear hyperkeratotic or verrucous lesions - IP, lichen striatus, linear porokeratosis, linear LP, linear psoriasis
treatment:   systemic retinoids can produce a partial but usually temporary response in some patients with extensive disease
