Systematized Epidermal Nevus – epidermal nevus with diffuse or extensive distribution

 

Nevus Unius Lateris – when the lesions are distributed on one half of the body

 

Ichthyosis Hystrix – epidermal nevus with extensive bilateral distribution

 

ILVEN = inflammatory variant

 

•histology:   essentially that of a benign papillomas (epidermolytic hyperkeratosis may be seen)
•ddx: other linear hyperkeratotic or verrucous lesions - IP, lichen striatus, linear porokeratosis, linear LP, linear psoriasis
•treatment:   systemic retinoids can produce a partial but usually temporary response in some patients with extensive disease
