AKA linear papular ectodermal-mesodermal hamartoma
linear arrays of flesh colored papules on forehead and post-auricular
encountered almost exclusively in black skin (more common among those institutionalized for mental retardation)
histology: hyperplasia of both epidermal and dermal structures (incl. sebaceous glands, nerves, collagenous and elastic fibers)
ddx:  papular mucinoses, lichen nitidus, sarcoidosis, acne vulgaris

 

 

Sebaceous Glands (normal variants):

juxtaclavicular beaded lines
hamartoma moniliformis normal variant in which there is minor fibrosis around otherwise apparently normal follicular structures on the nose, temples, forehead, and neck
Fordyce spots = ectopic sebaceous glands best seen on buccal mucosa just inside lips
also seen on penis, vulva, and areola
